Not Clowning Around

Jun 10, 2013 -- 10:51am

No jokes here. Slipknot's Shawn 'Clown' Crahan is tackling some pretty big issues.

While the band is taking a slight hiatus until their new album is set to be released sometime in late 2014 or early 2015, Crahan has decided that he will continue with his passion of making documentaries. His next project involves a very touchy issue -- eating disorders.

He's even reaching out to fellow Slipknot fans and the general public. Here's a look at a message that was posted on the band's message board at their website:

"Hey Everyone,

As many of you know, I have produced documentaries for all of Slipknot’s album cycles. Recently, I also worked on a documentary about the scariest haunted house in America, the House of Shock in New Orleans, which will be coming out soon. Making these documentaries has ignited a passion in me to continue using this medium to get at the truth behind the mask, to expose the pain and the beauty hidden behind the facades we like to hide behind. I don’t want to judge or to hurt but to help, and to heal. What I am going to ask for next may be difficult for some of you to contemplate but I ask that you keep an open mind and to think about what an experience like this might have meant to you had it been available when you began your journey.

I am looking for the following for my next documentary project:

A man and/or a woman at least 30 years of age who has been diagnosed with anorexia, bulimia, and/or any other eating disorder or any combination thereof.

A man and/or a woman between the ages of 18 and 30 years of age who has been diagnosed with anorexia, bulimia, and/or any other eating disorder or any combination thereof.

A man and/or a woman under the age of 18 years of age who has been diagnosed with anorexia, bulimia, and/or any other eating disorder or any combination thereof.

I know how incredibly difficult these disorders are to live with, to speak about, and to have to confront. I want to be direct, honest, and unflinching in telling your stories of struggle and triumph, failure and success as you find your path to a healthy life.

Why eating disorders? My path through life has brought me into contact with a number of women and men suffering from these terrible diseases and I feel compelled to do what I can to help.

I warn you now that I intend to ask a great deal of you. I am not interested in telling only part of the story. I want to speak to you and film your story. I want to be positive but not condescending, to be honest, but not cruel. My hope is that your experiences will give the woman or man suffering in silence the strength to get help. My hope is that telling your story will empower you to gain control of your illness.

I have seen the devastation eating disorders inflict on both the people suffering from them as well as on their families. I am not foolish enough to believe this will cure anyone, but can we help to save someone? Isn’t that a chance worth taking?

Although I am not a religious man, I will leave you with this quote from C.S. Lewis:

“If you look for truth, you may find comfort in the end; if you look for comfort you will not get either comfort or truth only soft soap and wishful thinking to begin, and in the end, despair.”

Those interested may contact me by email at: schon (at) 5bam.com All responses will be kept completely confidential. Thanks for your time. Let’s make a difference.

By the looks of it, it seems as if Clown really has his act together and wants to do this project as tastefully as possible. Hopefully it will make a very small dent in those that need help when it comes to the complexity of eating disorders.

Do you think he will succeed?

Performance Fit For A Queen

Jun 06, 2013 -- 9:05am

Or something like that....

If you stayed up last night to catch David Letterman you got the privilage of seeing Queens of the Stone Age perform one of their new tunes.

Hot on the heels of their album release '...Like Clockwork' from earlier this week, the group graced the Letterman audience with one killer performance of  "My God Is The Sun."

Apparently the back drop and animation was pretty killer, too.

The new album features special guests Dave Grohl from the Foo Fighters, Elton John, Alex Turner from the Arctic Monkeys, and several others.

You can get the complete recap of the performance and other information here.

Check out the video below and let us know what you thought of the killer performance!

Leaked Jam?

Jun 03, 2013 -- 11:31am

That would normally sound disgusting on so many levels. However, we are referring to the fact that Pearl Jam might be releasing their new single as early as July of this year!

All Access orginally posted the listing on their website but has since removed the post. It doesn't seem too far fetched considering the band has said on multiple occasions that they are so close to releasing their new album.

You can read about the sound of the new album here.

According to the removed post, 'Mind Your Manners' will be here on July 16th. Do we really have to wait until then to find out if this is the real deal or not? Give us some kind of hint, Pearl Jam!

Anyway you spin it, the groups tenth album will be here this year and is sure to be a hit.

WE. CAN'T. FREAKIN'. WAIT.

'Cherry Confessional

May 30, 2013 -- 8:59am

Did you know that, along with his already hectic schedule, Brian 'Head' Welch is a columnist for the rock website loudwire.com? True story. As a matter of fact he recently sat down with Buckcherry's Josh Todd while they were all at the same venue getting ready for performances with their respective rock groups.

In this interview, Welch really wanted to dig into the meaning behind some of the new tracks off of Buckcherry's new album 'Confessions' before listeners got a chance to make up their own meanings behind the songs. Not that there's anything wrong with that at all!

You can catch the complete interview from Welch -- along with his bandmate Fieldy -- in the video below.

Side Note: Shortly after Welch performed with KoRn at the 2013 Rock on the Range Festival (where this interview took place), he noted that KoRn's gig was easily one of the groups Top 3 shows of all time.

Yeah, we're officially excited to have the group all together again!

Talk to ya soon...
