Shut Up and Rock -- 12/6/12

Dec 06, 2012 -- 8:08am

Almost there!  Here's how we got through not-quite-Friday:

  • Heavy rockers Mastodon are getting back into the soundtrack business...with Pixar?  Sure enough, the group will be recording songs for the upcoming Monsters University, the prequel to Monsters Inc, starring John Goodman and Billy Crystal.  Uh...hmm.
  • Who will be the Big Bad to go up against the Justice League on the big screen?  Well, it's likely to be Darkseid, who's an obvious, but safe, choice for the studio to try and gain ground against Marvel's huge lead in theaters.  The film is expected to focus on Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and Green Lantern, and it'll be out summer of 2015...the same time as The Avengers 2.  Uh-oh.
  • Samuel L. Jackson recently confirmed that his next Marvel movie will be Captain America: The Winter Soldier in April 2014.  No big surprise there, but what that means is that he (as Nick Fury, of course) will NOT be appearing in Iron Man 3 next year.  Makes sense--ol' Shellhead's franchise looks to be straying away from the S.H.I.E.L.D. and Avengers-heavy mentality of its second flick anyway.
  • More downloadable content is now available for Darksiders 2.  The Demon Lord Belial pack is story-based and available now for XBox 360 and PS3 for about $10; if you have the Season Pass, of course, it's already paid for in that.
  • Ever wonder just how much money Call of Duty: Black Ops II has made?  Well, in just 15 days after it went on sale, the game has raked in over $1 billion, putting it just ahead of last year's Modern Warfare 3, which hit that mark in 16 days instead.  Also, over 150 million hours have been logged online on XBox Live and the Playstation Network thus far with Black Ops II...yikes.

Finally Friday...you know it, it's tomorrow!  Until then, ROCK!
