Shut Up and Rock -- 12/7/12

Dec 07, 2012 -- 7:41am

FINALLY F'N FRIDAY!  Here's the rundown before the weekend:

  • The fourth Paramore studio album, self-titled, will be out April 9th of next year, according to a post on the band's website by lead singer Hayley Williams.  She also revealed the first single off the disc will be called "Now," but no release window has been given for that.
  • Get your streaming Metallica now:  the band has officially joined Spotify!  Drummer Lars Ulrich met with Spotify chief executive Daniel Elk and investor Sean Parker (who you may also remember founded Napster...) in a press conference yesterday to announce the Metallica catalog would fully be available on the streaming service immediately.
  • You may recall that Disney hadn't yet confirmed a third entry in the Tron series, though they were discussing it earlier this year.  Looks like that project now may be on the fast-track to production.  Tron 3 does indeed have a script that's being re-written by Jesse Wigutow as of now, dealing with "the life and death of the digital realm," but nothing else is known about the plot or characters involved.
  • With Christina Applegate not returning for Anchorman: The Legend Continues, Ron Burgundy needs a new love interest...and who better than the ultimate Bridesmaid?  Rumor has it that Kristen Wiig is in talks to join the flick as Will Ferrell's leading lady, and that's just basically the best news you could've heard about this movie, which will be out sometime in 2013.  CANNONBALL!
  • Who's enjoying Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale?  (No, seriously--anyone?  Haven't heard a thing about this since it came out.)  Either way, two new characters will be coming to the game early next year:  Kat from Gravity Rush and Emmett Graves from Starhawk will be free downloads for a limited time, as well as a new level that merges the worlds of Heavenly Sword and Wipeout.
  • Speaking of DLC, more is on the way for Resident Evil 6 soon.  The Predator, Survivor, and Onslaught modes will be out December 18th for the XBox 360 version of the game (and coming later for PS3), available individually or as a bundle pack.

Enjoy the weekend, and we'll do it all again Monday!  Until then...ROCK!
