Shut Up and Rock -- 4/1/13

"The trouble with historical quotes on the internet is that it is difficult to validate their authenticity."  -- Abraham Lincoln

  • 411mania put together their list of the Top Ten Foo Fighters Songs, and it looks a little something like this:

    10.  Let It Die

    9.  This Is a Call

    8.  Aurora

    7.  I’ll Stick Around

    6.  Bridge Burning

    5.  Stacked Actors

    4.  Everlong

    3.  All My Life

    2.  The Pretender

    1.  Best of You

I think the biggest surprises for me are the omissions of songs like Big Me, Breakout, and Monkey Wrench (my all-time personal favorite), but otherwise, not bad.

  • Marilyn Manson's moving into the world of fashion as the face of the latest Saint Laurent menswear campaign.  Creative director Heidi Silmane hand-picked Manson for the job after having Beck on-board last season for their ads.  Interesting!

  • G.I. Joe: Retaliation easily took #1 in its first weekend at the box office with an impressive $132 million take worldwide, meaning it has already topped its budget and is poised to beat the total take of the first film in the series before this week's out.  Meanwhile, the Croods slipped to #2, Tyler Perry's latest flick opened at #3, and The Host disappointed big time by opening at #6.

  • So!  Bruce Campbell says he wants to play Ash one more time for Evil Dead 4 with Sam Raimi, independent of the new Evil Dead film.  They're also working on Army of Darkness 2.  Meanwhile, director Fede Alvarez (who directed the new flick, produced by Campbell) is already planning a sequel, and once all that's done, Raimi and Alvarez would bring together the franchises--that's old Evil Dead, new Evil Dead, and Army of Darkness--for one big grand finale.  Confused yet?

  • Square Enix may have sold 3.4 million copies of Tomb Raider already, but it's just not enough--the company was expecting more from first-week sales of the rebooted franchise, even though Crystal Dynamics head Darrell Gallagher says that's more than any other game in the series ever sold.  Ridiculous.  And it's a great game, to boot!

  • Speaking of sales, Minecraft is still pulling them down, especially on XBLA--over six million copies of the game have been sold thus far, with at least one million coming from the beginning of 2013.  If you're not too 'net-savvy, there's a retail edition of the game coming to XBox 360 on the 30th of this month.

And not a single one of those are jokes!  'Til tomorrow, pranksters...ROCK!
