Shut Up and Rock -- 12/18/13

Dec 18, 2013 -- 7:41am

To quote the late, great Colonel Sanders:  "I'm too drunk to taste this chicken."

  • Muse fans, rejoice!  Frontman Matt Bellamy and drummer Dom Howard confirmed in a recent interview that while the band has been touring in Australia to support their sixth album, The Second Law, they've been working on their seventh album already, and they just finished that tour this past weekend.  Bellamy says the next offering could be out as soon as 2015.

  • The Red Hot Chili Peppers are going to the Super Bowl...kinda.  The band will play a special Kickoff in Brooklyn concert, part of a festival that runs for three days leading up to the big game.  RHCP will be the final act on Saturday, February 1st at the Barclays Center, and tickets go on sale Friday for the event.

  • Here we go again:  Paramount has decided that nothing is sacred yet again, so we're rebooting The Naked Gun.  Without Leslie Nielsen, someone else has to step into the role of Lieutenant Frank Drebin from the legendary parody series, and that someone will be Ed Helms (The Hangover series, We're the Millers.)  I love Ed Helms...but this could be bad.  Really bad.

  • Also, Frank Darabont is going to legal war with AMC over The Walking Dead.  Darabont was the show's executive producer in its first season, but he was fired shortly into the second season, and he claims that's because AMC didn't want to pay his increased profit percentage at the end of the season.  AMC has until mid-January to respond, at which point they'll probably say, "JUST LEAVE US ALONE, FRANK.  You got your noir show on TNT; let it go."

  • In the gaming world, it's Magic Online Week at DailyMTG.com!  Featured articles this week will come from the game's R&D team and other higher-ups, so give that a look at the link.

  • Also, if you're looking to continue rendering your Playstation 2 obsolete, Final Fantasy X and X-2 will be remastered in HD and coming to your Playstation 3 and Vita on March 18th of next year for just $40.  No word yet on a PS4 version, though.

'Til Thursday, thrashers...ROCK!
